Green Choices

Environmentally responsible materials can be used to recycle/reupholster your quality furniture. Rather than using traditional foam, polyester fiber, and synthetic fabrics for upholstery, you can choose to use cotton padding, natural latex foam rubber, and natural fiber fabrics or leather.

Let Kelly's Upholstery be your Bellingham resource for commercial and residential upholstery and reupholstery!

“This chair was a gift to my sister. She has always loved Morris-style chairs and I spent a year looking at both new and old versions of the chair until I found exactly what I thought she'd like. This chair was made by the Seattle Furniture Company in about 1910. When I bought it, it had the original oilcloth upholstery, which had become too fragile to use or repair.

I had very specific requirements for the chair's restoration; I wanted a beautiful, durable but soft leather of uniform quality, and I wanted all of the materials to be natural: no polyesters or plastics. I didn't want the upholstery to upstage the chair, and I wanted it to look like it could have been original. Kelly found gorgeous leather, was more than willing to locate and use the materials I chose, and he was appreciative of the beauty of the chair itself. This chair has a lovely recliner mechanism, and Kelly adjusted the hardware so that now this chair operates like new, though it is almost 100 years old.

The nice thing about this chair is that it speaks for itself. It creates an impact in a room, and the upholstery sends an irresistible invitation.”
